Installing and configuring FileZilla client

This document briefly describes how to download and configure FileZilla client to enable remote access to smbcopy.slac.stanford.edu to back up the data.

Download and installation

Download the package of FileZilla client that matches your operating system (Windows, Mac OS X or Linux). Follow the installation instructions provided on the FileZilla site.

Configure

  • Start the software.
  • On the main menu select File -> Site Manager.
  • Click on New site and give a name to your connection (e.g. SSRL_smbcopy)
  • Select the Protocol SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol
  • Enter the name of the Host smbcopy.slac.stanford.edu and Port 22
  • Select the Logon Type Key file
  • Browse the key file and select id_rsa.pem file. For instructions on how to generate the key file please visit: generating an ssh key
  • Your connection is configured and ready to connect to download the data.
