Obtaining Blu-Ice and using CVS

Obtaining Blu-Ice

To get a copy of the Blu-Ice source code for evaluation or installation, send a request for a CVS account to scottm@slac.stanford.edu with a brief statement of interest and the synchrotron and beam line(s) of which you are affiliated.

Blu-Ice Releases

The current development efforts are always available in CVS on the HEAD of the CVS projects. However, checking out the code from the HEAD of development is problematic for many reasons. External users should usually check out the code from one of the release branches that the SSRL developers occasionally create. Because we understand that external collaborators may not want to upgrade the software often, we try to keep the documentation around for as long as possible. Here are the currently available releases:

Release 4.1

The current version installed on SSRL beamlines is tagged release-4_1 in CVS.

Release 3.2

Remote Access Restrictions were introduced in this version.

The user's location and privilege level will be used by DCSS to decide on a per-device basis whether or not the user has permission to request the motor move or operation.
