Macromolecular Crystallography WorkshopsAs part of its dissemination activities, the macromolecular crystallography group organizes workshops with the purpose of introducing the latest developments in experimental methods to the user community. Upcoming Workshops: Training workshops are now held at SSRL a few times each year to familiarize users who routinely collect data remotely with the SSRL beam line environment and to provide personalized training. Attendees will be introduced to the experimental equipment and the computing facilities available both locally and remotely. Training topics include 1) how to prepare and ship samples for use with the Stanford Automated Mounting system, 2) automated crystal screening and data collection, 3) fluorescence scans & MAD experiments, and 4) Web-Ice. For more information please contact Ana Gonzalez. Past Workshops: A joint workshop was held on Oct 10, 2006 at the ALS and on Oct 11, 2006 at SSRL focusing on collaborative developments in automated sample screening and rapid crystal assessment. On August 4th 2006, a joint SSRL / HWI workshop titled Remote Access Crystallography at SSRL was held at The Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute in Buffalo, NY. During this workshop attendees learned about the experimental facilities at SSRL and how to successfully complete all stages of a remote access experiment. In 2005 a workshop was organized in conjunction with the SSRL Annual Users' Meeting. The subject of this workshop was remote access to experimental facilities at SSRL. Workshops held in 2003 and 2004 focused on automation and high throughput methodology for Macromolecular Crystallography beamlines. |
