Requesting Beam TimeThe synchrotron operates for ~9 months per year (usually from November through July). There are typically 3 scheduling periods:
After a proposal is rated and approved for beam time, spokespersons are required to request beam time for each scheduling period. A Call for beam time requests is sent by email to spokespersons with active proposals in advance of each scheduling period. Reminders are also posted under the User Research Announcements section of SSRL's monthly newsletter, Headlines. If beam time is not required, spokespersons should submit the No Beam Time Requested form. Scheduling and beam time allocation is primarily based on proposal ratings. Once beam time allocations are sent to the spokesperson, the Beam Time Acceptance form is used to secure the beam time. Beam Time Forms: |
